Auction
Important announcement from SAILOR HQ
It's Autumn again
folks and this year SAILOR are having a massive clear-out of
their cramped storage facility to create some badly needed space!
Consequently we have a few items of historical significance to
SAILOR which may be of interest to those fans who would like a
genuine piece of SAILOR memorabilia to have on show - in their
very own homes!
History
Early in 1973, Georg, Grant, Henry and Phil literally built the
first ever "Nickelodeon" to Georg's original design,
upstairs at the 'Nightingale' Public House in Wood Green, London.
Using a 'Black and Decker' drill bought by Phil´s Mum, they
assembled the infamous music machine that would become the
hallmark of their unique sound and visual trade mark - with their
own bare hands!
Famous
The 'Nightingale' became famous in SAILOR history as the venue of
the band's first ever live performance - the 'Showcase'
production for CBS/Epic Records which led directly to their
signing, and also their appearance on BBC 2's "Live In
Concert" - due to legendary TV producer Johnny Stewart (who
along with many other 'movers and shakers' in the entertainment
world) being in the audience and greatly impressed by the
fresh-faced quartet. The 'Nickelodeon' was used by the band
throughout the 1970's in Concert Halls, Stadiums and Festivals
all over the world, as well as on countless TV programmes and
films.
Auction
The two hand-crafted, Kajanus-designed decorative end-pieces of the Nickelodeon, fashioned from seasoned Norwegian pine from the hometown Fjiord's of .... ("for God's sake get on with it" - marketing dept) are now being sold separately to the highest bidders in our special SAILOR e-mail Auction. Highest bid received before December 1st 2003 secures! Suggest start bid at 50 Euros as interest likely to be high in these priceless artifacts!
Contact...
sailormusic@hotmail.com with your offer, and the first and second
highest bids will secure either or both of these classic
artifacts of SAILOR nostalgia.
(Don't forget to 'factor in' to your offer the cost of
transportation of your purchase)
If you prefer, SAILOR will bring out to one of our shows and
deliver personally. All you will have to pay is the 'excess
baggage' - (although "Naylorman"- our indomitable tour
manager is the world's expert at minimising these fees with the
airlines- and most times makes them disappear altogether!)
Not only but also...
Charango
- "If you're going down the Panama Canal..."
Georg's original "Charango" - the
eight-stringed Mexican instrument fashioned from a dead
armadillo (sorry about that!) used on many of SAILOR's
early classic latino songs, including 'Panama' - has also
sadly got to go.
Seriously, we are expecting a great deal of interest and
are starting the auction 200 Euros on
this piece (which comes in its own case)
