A concert review by Uli Neumann:

SAILOR played in many concert venues, in a shopping mall, also during the worlds largest sailor-event, the "Kieler Woche", but never under a railroad bridge, crossed by trains on a main line and in sight of the Kiel-Channel, giving a perfect background for SAILOR. Some of the ships were even greeting SAILOR and their audience with their foghorns. The occasion for this concert was a rowing competition, the eights had to be rowed over 12,7km (~7,9mls). About 150.000 spectators watched the race along the channel, regrettably not all of them watched SAILOR.
The 30th of September 2007 was a very rainy day, during the concert of the supporting band "Freestyle" hard rain fell and flooded the stage. The Nickelodeon got a canvas cover to protect the keyboards to be "injured" by the rain.
Should something unexpected happen? Yes, there happened something unexpected. SAILOR played their well known programm. During "Vera From Veracruz" Phil tried to throw the maracas handy on the stage, but one of them became to much momentum, skipped over the edge of the stage and smashed in front of it. Phil used the rattle he normally uses during "Girls Girls Girls" to replaced the destroyed maraca.
In spite of the rain SAILOR and their audience had a lot of fun, the concert could have been longer in the opinion of SAILOR and their audience, but in the background the actors of the race an the pime minister of Schleswig-Holstein, Peter Harry Carstensen, waited for the award ceremony. He enjoyed the SAILOR concert, too.
But not only the destroyed maraca made this concert a remarkable concert, another unexpected highlight was the encore. Oliver performed "Con Te Partirò" (Time To Say Goodbye) in Italian language! Some people might have thought it was a playback performance, they didn't know, that Oliver has much experience as a musical artist.. When he sang this song, it gave me the creeps and the hackles raised and it was so quiet, that you could have heard a pin dropped. So once more the sentence came true: Expect the unexpected.
